Crown of Success is a classic formula in Hoodoo, the African American folk practice of the American South. High John the Conqueror root is one of its most celebrated roots, carried for strength, success, and personal power. Bay leaves have long been tied to victory, and orange to joy and opportunity.

How to take a success bath

1. Draw a warm bath and add a generous handful of salts.
2. Light a candle if you like, and speak the goal you're working toward.
3. Soak for at least 10 minutes. Pour the water over your head and shoulders with a cup, from the crown down.
4. Many practitioners air dry afterward to let the blessing settle.
